The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
The Society was founded in 1833 by Frederic Ozanam, a 20 year old university student.
The work of the SVDP is the Gospel message in action.
- I was hungry
- I was thirsty
- I was a stranger
- I was sick
- I was in prison
And you cared.
Membership involves:
- Weekly meetings (1 hour long)
- Weekly visitations (done in the company of another member)
- A secret collection - members contribute whatever they feel they can afford
- Short Prayers said during the meeting
